Punjab Smart Ration Card Scheme 2024

Good news!! Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana, which provides free ration to 81.35 crore people of the country, has been extended till 31 December 2023. Now every poor person will get 5 kg of rice or wheat every month, every family will get 1 kg of gram every month and ration will be available for 5 months. More details are given below…

Smart Ration Card Scheme under NFSA is a new scheme of Punjab Government which has been launched by CM Captain Amarinder Singh on 12 September 2020. The state government of Punjab had already given its approval to replace the blue cards with new smart ration cards under the Atta-Dal scheme. As per the order of the state government, Atta Dal Scheme has been renamed as Smart Ration Card Scheme. This new scheme will include 1.41 crore beneficiaries as per the new list.

The Chief Minister also announced a new state-funded scheme to provide ration at a subsidized rate to 9 lakh beneficiaries not covered under the NFSA. The smart ration card will be used to withdraw food grains from fair price shops (FPS) through e-PoS machines without any additional documents. The family details can be retrieved at fair price shops by swiping the smart ration card on e-PoS machines. Biometric authentication will be required after swiping the card for foodgrain withdrawal.

A major advantage of the smart ration card will be that these cards will be intra-state portable, which means that smart ration card holders will be able to withdraw food grains anywhere in the state, regardless of their permanent resident district.
